πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Who is the ACA Marketplace for?

πŸ’Ό

Self-Employed & Freelancers

If you work for yourself, receive 1099 income, or are a contractor β€” you don't have access to employer coverage. The ACA Marketplace is your path to individual coverage with possible subsidies.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§

Families Without Employer Coverage

If your employer doesn't offer insurance or the costs are too high, the ACA Marketplace may offer more affordable options β€” especially if you qualify for tax credits.

πŸ”„

Between Jobs or Lost Coverage

If you lost your job or employer coverage ended, you may qualify for a 60-day Special Enrollment Period to enroll right now.

πŸ’°

People Who Qualify for Subsidies

Depending on your income and household size, you may qualify for financial help that significantly reduces your monthly premium β€” sometimes to $0.

🏠

Small Business Owners

Business owners who need personal coverage separate from their business or want to explore options outside group insurance.

πŸŽ“

Young Adults up to 26

If you can no longer stay on your parents' plan, the ACA Marketplace offers affordable options with full benefits for young adults in Florida.

βœ… What do ACA plans include?

All ACA Marketplace plans must include 10 essential health benefits β€” they are not optional.

βœ“

Preventive & wellness care

Annual checkups, vaccines, and screenings at no additional cost. Catching problems early saves money and health.

βœ“

Hospital & emergency services

Coverage for hospitalizations, surgeries, and emergency visits β€” protection when you need it most.

βœ“

Prescription drugs

All plans include drug coverage. We help you review the formulary before enrollment to make sure your prescriptions are covered.

βœ“

Mental health & addiction treatment

Coverage on par with other medical services. Includes therapy, counseling, and treatment.

βœ“

Maternity & newborn care

Coverage from pregnancy through delivery. Marketplace plans cannot exclude maternity coverage.

βœ“

Pre-existing condition protection

Under the ACA, no insurer can deny you coverage or charge you more because of a pre-existing health condition.

The 4 metal tiers β€” how they work

All ACA plans cover the same 10 essential benefits. The metal tier determines how you and the insurance company split costs. Higher metal = lower costs when you use care.

πŸ₯‰ Bronze
Lowest monthly premium
40%
Insurance pays 60%
Best for: healthy people who rarely use care
πŸ₯ˆ Silver
Mid-range premium
30%
Insurance pays 70%
Best for: most people β€” required for extra savings (CSR)
πŸ₯‡ Gold
Higher premium
20%
Insurance pays 80%
Best for: frequent healthcare users
πŸ’Ž Platinum
Highest premium
10%
Insurance pays 90%
Best for: people with high ongoing medical costs
Silver is often the smartest choice

If your income qualifies for Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSR), you must enroll in a Silver plan to get them. CSR can dramatically lower your deductible and copays β€” making Silver a better deal than Gold even if the premium is similar. Our brokers will show you the actual numbers side by side.

Do you qualify for subsidies?

Most people who apply are surprised by how much financial help is available. Two types of savings apply to ACA plans:

Premium Tax Credits (APTC)
Reduce your monthly premium. Available to individuals earning between 100%–400% of the federal poverty level β€” and in some cases above. In 2026, a single person earning up to approximately $60,000 may qualify. A family of 4 earning up to $124,000 may also qualify. Many people pay $0–$50/month after credits.

Cost-Sharing Reductions (CSR)

If your income is between 100%–250% of the federal poverty level, you may also qualify for CSR β€” which lowers your deductible, copays, and out-of-pocket maximum on Silver plans. You must enroll in a Silver plan to receive this benefit. Our brokers will check both subsidies for you and show you the net cost after all savings are applied.

βš–οΈ ACA Plan vs. Private Health Insurance

ACA enrollment is not open year-round β€” but qualifying life events can open a Special Enrollment Period at any time.

πŸ’Ό

Lost job coverage

πŸ’

Marriage or divorce

Getting married, divorced, or legally separated qualifies you for a Special Enrollment Period.

πŸ‘Ά

Birth or adoption

Having or adopting a child opens a Special Enrollment Period and allows you to add the child to your plan.
